Postponement announcement of "masayume" Face Floating
Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL Special 13 Projects, including “masayume,” have been postponed due to the circumstances of COVID-19 and the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic & Paralympic Games.
During the project process, we conducted 12 sessions of the “Face Recruitment” from May 6th to June 30th last year at various locations in Tokyo, and collected portrait photos of more than 1,400 people from all over the world.
In the summer of 2020, we were planning to raise a gigantic face to the sky in Tokyo, but it has been postponed out of need. The chosen face could be you, or I… With that in mind, please imagine a landscape of Tokyo with a rising face like the moon. And look forward to the day when everyone can look up at the sky with peace of mind. We will inform you through the newsletter and social media as soon as the schedule is decided.
A message from the organizer of this project, the Contemporary Art Team 目 [mé]
When I was walking back home the other day, I was imagining the face floating in the sky. I tried looking at the same spot in the air in between houses and apartments on my way home. All at once, the surrounding landscape started to be connected, and I felt the connection of the various people in the town as well. I also reencountered myself highly looking forward to the day it would really happen.
The face floating “masayume” which was originally scheduled this summer has been postponed. Although it is regretful, we decided to choose the best time for the project. Intaking all the challenges and difficulties it has faced, and the minds of related people, “masayume” will come true in the city of Tokyo. We hope you would continue looking forward to “masayume” that will be connoting an even larger amount of energy.
